The Cutty Sark shows her ropes against the setting sun, one summer evening. I was in London for a couple of days and hopped on a water taxi from Westminster to Greenwich, looking for maritime topics along the Thames to paint back home in the studio. I saw this this view of the famous clipper and drew a couple of pencil sketches and took some reference photos in the 40 mins I had before the next water taxi departed. What inspired me was the sunset that silhouetted the masts and rigging.
