A re-imagining of Still Life-Curious Tales and other Adventures..Last year I began exploring still life and how to make it my own.Inspired by traditional Flemish painting but wanting to give a contemporary feel by including my own handmade ceramic pieces and inserting unlikely, unexpected objects to create little narratives within the painting. And maybe a touch of magic.I have made birds, creatures, fish, fruits and seed pods, plates, dishes and pots from black and white stoneware, waxed, polished or glazed..Tiny stories unfolding..As you look at this apparently tranquil scene you become aware of two unexpected participants,a tin robot and a field mouse, half hidden behind the jug and the ceramic duck..Could they be playing hide and seek?
