THE WINTER OF A TREE, egg tempera on board, 40.6cm x 30.5cm.2023During a winter walk along an unfamiliar public footpath I came upon a most beautiful old tree, bereft of life, by a stream. The tree, bathed in winter light with its skeletal limbs leaning over the water, presents an ending but with all endings, transformation and new beginnings. Energy, vibration and sound are the constants of the universe and the earth and the natural world we experience everyday, a cyclical pattern of new life, expansion and contraction, decay and renewal. Hope for us all against all odds.
