This pastel expresses my idea of home through the spirit of Cantonese opera. For over thirty years, I have been inspired by a generation of celebrated actresses whose performances embodied emotional depth, resilience, and grace. Their legacy stayed with me, inspiring me to reimagine it through my own youthful memories and a contemporary abstract language. Using soft layers of pastel, I blend theatrical elegance with expressive emotion, quiet dedication, and the fading echoes of stage dialogue. The gentle transitions of colour and texture evoke the tenderness of memory and the fluidity of time. To me, home is not a fixed placeit lives in hues, gestures, and remembrance. This pastel is a tribute to femininity and cultural heritage, carried through generations with feeling and artistry.
