Created over a two week period during the first month of 2026, this self-portrait depicts the artist in a moment of introspection. It is an attempt not at perfect likeness but to draw ones self from the inside out. Taking inspiration from artists such as Kthe Kollwitz, Edvard Munch, Andrew Wyeth and others the final piece combines areas of careful rendering with rougher, more expressive handling of the materials. The desired effect was one of a quiet weight, of composure, deep thought, and retrospect in solitude.
