The monotype Young Muskox was made for the animated short film Home of the Giants (2025) by Myrthe Majoor. Muskoxen are the main focus of Myrthes animated short film Home of the Giants. She studied several muskox herds and individuals to learn to understand their movements, behaviour and their role in the tundra ecosystem. During her studies, Myrthe fell absolutely in love with these special animals. She got to know the muskox as a patient, communicative species. All individuals had different characters, and it was a true joy to study them in their home mountains. The young muskox in this monotype is inspired by one of the first few wild muskoxen Myrthe saw. This is one of two calves from a year before, that foraged close to their mother. The way muskox wool dances in the wind is simply beautiful. This monotype manages to catch that movement when the wind plays with the outer wool layer of the muskox, and makes it dance.
