This painting was made in Springtime when the squirrels were very active. The sun lit up their red fur so they were easy to spot amongst the foliage, which hadn’t become dense yet. Their tails were quite blonde which may be a local or seasonal trait. This is the first time I’ve lived in close proximity to red squirrels. Used to seeing the greys, I was surprised at the differences – these little reds were faster, slender, and spent much of their time high in the treetops.Oil on natural linen.Presented in a warm white, wooden frame.
